Even though Silver Ring South Carolina officially opened its doors early in 2004, its influence has been present in South Carolina for some time. Over the past several years Silver Ring Thing teen abstinence events have been held in Greenville, Columbia and Hilton Head with great success. For example, a 2003 event in Columbia was attended by almost 1,700 with over 100 making decisions for Christ and over 1,000 making a pledge to abstinence until marriage.
In 2004 we held two great events. In September we had about 380 attend the Silver Ring Thing in Irmo with 229 making a pledge to abstinence and 29 making decisions for Christ. Then in October we held an SRT in Lexington with around 385 in attendance and 46 making responding to the Gospel. God is doing wonderful things in the lives of these students.
Our growth continued in 2005 with four SRT events and the addition of two new staff, and in 2006 we held six events in the first quarter of the year with another six scheduled for the Summer and Fall season. These are exciting days of growth for us.
Parents and youth leaders need support in promoting purity in our sexually-charged culture, and teens need to know that delaying sex until marriage is possible and the best path to a happy, healthy and successful future. Silver Ring South Carolina provides that support and positive message.
Silver Ring South Carolina is a charitable nonprofit organization dependent upon the financial gifts of those who recognize the need to reach youth with the Gospel and a message of sexual abstinence.
