CREW SPEAKS OUT

 CREW Speaks Out

I got to sit down and talk to some awesome CREW members who are committed to Christ and to their silver rings. I asked them some questions about their commitment to purity and other pressures they face. Here’s what they had to say…

What do you do to stay true to your silver ring promise?

 CREW answer:

I just remember how many people there are with the same commitment and we’re standing for something great. There’s so many bad things that can come from having sex before marriage, so it’s like...What’s the point?

How can you resist bad peer pressure?

 Crew answer:

Don’t ever put yourself in a situation where you could be pressured into doing something wrong. For instance, if there’s a guy that you know is pressuring girls to go too far you shouldn’t date him. And if you’re tempted to shoplift you shouldn’t go the mall with someone who has the reputation of doing that.

Why is it important to have an accountability partner?

 CREW answer:

It’s important to have someone that you can trust that will be critical with you and will ask you the hard questions and will know whether you are staying pure or not.

How can you keep a dating relationship pure?

 CREW answer:

First of all, make sure the other person knows your boundaries, and make sure the person you’re dating respects your boundaries. Respect each others’ boundaries, and don’t ever go past your own boundaries. Make your boundaries reasonable, don’t just say “we can’t have sex,” because the more physical build up there is the harder it’s going to be to stop. Even if it’s not sex, it can still be sinful if you’re giving into temptation.

Why has Silver Ring Thing been important to you?

 CREW answer:

It’s been important in my life because I made mistakes and so it’s good to stick to my Silver Ring commitment. God is good and you can recommit.

What is the sexual pressure of college like? What can you do to overcome that? (asked to a college CREW member)

Sex is everywhere. I mean, just from talking to kids in school people are constantly talking about it and it’s something kids feel like they have to do to be accepted. So you should look for Christian outreaches like FCA or RUF where you can find a group of people and find friends from those that will help you with your walk and your decisions.
